Our CEO, Helmuth von Grolman, and our Senior Business Development Manager, Martin Merstrand, recently attended the Airport Electrification West event in Los Angeles to discuss the electrification of airports and Ground Support Equipment (GSE) with experts from both the public and private sectors, including Patricia Monahan, Commissioner of the California Energy Commission, as well as representatives from the Los Angeles, Phoenix, Oakland and Denver airports.
Keynote Presentation: Electrifying GSE as a Pathway to Sustainability
During the conference, Helmuth von Grolman delivered a keynote presentation on the electrification of GSE. He highlighted how electric drives and battery systems can reduce CO2 emissions and costs while enhancing the operational efficiency of airport vehicles. The presentation also addresses the specific requirements and benefits of electric battery systems for various types of GSE vehicles.
Special thanks to Dr. Michael Benjamin, Chief of the Air Quality Planning and Science Division at the California Air Resources Board, for his excellent introduction and expert moderation of discussion. His leadership facilitated a meaningful exchange of ideas on how electrification can shape the future of airports.
Strong Networking and Fresh Perspectives
The event provided a valuable opportunity to engage with industry leaders and discuss critical topics such as infrastructure development and the role of electric vehicles at airports.
Martin Merstrand summarized, “It was enlightening to discuss shared goals across the industry and exchange ideas on the future evolution of airports.”
